About the Position
Join our team as a Heavy Equipment Operator and become a key player in our snow removal operations this winter. Downer Brothers Landscaping boasts a modern equipment fleet featuring state-of-the-art amenities like Bluetooth radios and backup cameras. We prioritize convenience by assigning work at commercial sites within a 15-to 30-minute commute, ensuring you spend less time traveling and more time working. Weekly direct deposit payments keep things simple and convenient.
We're currently hiring for positions in the Merrimack Valley area. Operators must be prepared for all winter snow events, with work hours that may extend based on storm severity.
Key Responsibilities
- Operate skid steers or loaders safely and efficiently for snow removal at designated commercial sites.
- Follow site maps and specifications to ensure snow is relocated as required.
- Be available for all winter snow events, regardless of timing.
- Arrive on time, prepared to work, and be ready for extended hours as needed based on weather conditions.
Qualifications
- Proven experience operating heavy equipment, specifically skid steers or loaders.
- Ability to adapt to a dynamic work environment with flexible hours.

About the Position:
Our Irrigation Technicians play a critical role in the health and vitality of our clients' landscapes, ensuring that turf, plants, and gardens receive adequate watering to thrive. Working closely with our maintenance and design-build teams, our irrigation technicians ensure that each project meets client specifications and supports landscape sustainability. This role offers the opportunity to work on a variety of high-end residential and commercial projects, making a meaningful impact in every season.
Key Responsibilities:
Perform routine irrigation maintenance for existing clients, including start-ups, blowouts, diagnostics, repairs, and adjustments.
Install and configure new irrigation clocks; set and fine-tune clock settings for efficient watering schedules.
Support landscape construction teams with drip and/or spray head irrigation installations for new plantings.
Connect new irrigation installations to existing systems and adjust lawn irrigation heads (move, add, or cap) as required.
Work collaboratively across teams to ensure optimal water delivery to plants, trees, and turf.
Qualifications:
Minimum of 3 years of irrigation experience, with a strong knowledge base in drip, microdrip, spray heads, and irrigation clocks.
Understanding of the specific water needs of various plant materials and turf.
Excellent troubleshooting skills, with a keen attention to detail.
Strong communication skills for effective client and team interaction.
Ability to track time and materials with precision.

About the Position:
This is the ideal job for someone who loves gardening and wants to turn their passion into a profession, ending each day with the satisfaction of having transformed spaces and enhanced clients' outdoor experiences. Our Fine Gardeners work with clients who highly value the beauty and tranquility of their gardens. They perform meticulous work such as pruning and toning roses, hand-pruning specimen trees and shrubs, hand-shearing to sculpt hedges, deadheading perennials to keep gardens vibrant, and creating artistic seasonal container displays. Additionally, they install bulbs and annuals, divide and transplant perennials, and manage small enhancement projects. Fine Gardeners also provide thoughtful garden care through plant renovation, invasive species management, and weeding services, enhancing the everyday landscape. At the end of the season, they winterize gardens with skillful fall perennial cleanups, preparing spaces for the following year. They have a keen eye for detail, reporting plant health, watering, turf, or quality issues and other observations to the Divisional Manager for proactive care.
Key Responsibilities:
Understand and adopt each client's unique aesthetic goals as your own.
Execute visit objectives set by the Division Manager, aligning with client goals and the ideal timing for plant care tasks.
Make precise pruning cuts to enhance plant health and appearance.
Manage daily work efficiently, adhering to task priorities and man-hour budgets.
Work cross-functionally with maintenance, irrigation, fertilization, construction, office, and sales teams to ensure a holistic and cohesive approach to each client's property.
Qualifications:
Foremen:
Minimum of 3 years' experience in fine gardening.
Passion for gardening and commitment to detail.
Excellent communication skills and technical skills in pruning.
Strong plant and weed identification abilities.
Proficiency in operating handheld power tools (blowers, weed whackers, gas shears, electric chainsaws).
Dedicated to upholding worksite safety standards.

Lawn Care Specialists work closely with the Scheduler and maintenance teams to ensure their work meets the goal of delivering an outstanding product to our clients.
Key Responsibilities:
Application of Fertilizers and Soil Treatments
Apply fertilizers, lime, compost, and other soil amendments to improve lawn health and support strong grass growth.
Ensure even and accurate application of products tailored to each lawn’s specific needs, utilizing sprayers and spreaders effectively.
Soil and Grass Health Assessment
Conduct soil tests as needed and analyze results to address nutrient deficiencies or imbalances.
Monitor grass conditions for signs of disease, pest infestations, or stress and recommend suitable treatments.
Safe Handling of Chemicals
Safely mix and handle fertilizers and soil treatments, adhering to all regulatory and safety guidelines.
Consistently use personal protective equipment (PPE) and notify clients of any necessary safety precautions following applications, using standard application postings.
Customer Education and Communication
Educate clients on the benefits of fertilization treatments and provide custom recommendations when needed.
Offer guidance on post-treatment care, including watering schedules and foot traffic limitations, to ensure the lawn remains healthy.
Record-Keeping and Compliance
Maintain detailed records of each treatment, including materials used, application rates, and lawn health notes, ensuring accurate client records and regulatory compliance.
Adhere to local environmental regulations regarding chemical applications to protect surrounding ecosystems.
Maintenance of Application Equipment
Regularly clean and maintain equipment to ensure precise applications and avoid cross-contamination, with support from the fleet mechanic.
Troubleshoot equipment issues on-site and report any repair needs to management promptly.
Qualifications:
Minimum of 3 years of experience in lawn care or turf management.
Valid Massachusetts Pesticide License (applications will not be considered without a valid license).
Experience with aeration, overseeding, and lawn renovations.
